You know a label is excited about a certain release when it chooses to anticipate a release (well, only for a few hours, but that doesn’t matter). We couldn’t wait until tomorrow to unleash Lizard Kisses‘ Tiny Island Teeth, so you can have it starting now. Head to our Bandcamp page right now to stream, download (pay what you want!) and buy the tape (reduced price until 6th September at 11:59pm UTC). We’re really proud to have Cory and Marc release this tape with us, they’re so talented I’m pretty sure this will be their last release on a small label like C&T. So… be sure to grab this while it’s cheap! Some early press:

Also, for those living in Portugal, me and the good folks from Mercado Negro, Aveiro are setting up a Cakes and Tapes birthday party next Friday. Portuguese folk-rock finest act A Jigsaw will be playing a free show, followed by DJ sets by Renatto (electronic/soul/etc) and The Taperwares (that’s the worst pun I could come up with – we’ll be spinning some indie rock/pop/Kelly Clarkson’s biggest hits). We’ll also be selling cassettes for cheap, as well as giving away a special edition birthday cassette – there’s only 10 of them! – with artwork done by Mercado Negro; videos will be shown and artwork will be displayed. More info: Associação Cultural Mercado Negro
This, however, won’t be our only collab with Mercado Negro. Next October 18th, Cakes and Tapes and Bolachas.org presents Jeffrey Lewis and the Junkyard live at Mercado Negro! It’s Jeff’s first time in Portugal in more than a handful of years (in fact, I didn’t even know about him the last time Jeff played a show in my country) and we’re very very very proud and excited to have Jeffrey and the guys play here. Tickets will go on sale soon and they’ll cost €4 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111) if you buy them earlier – send an email to bolachasbooking@gmail.com if you’re not able to go to Mercado Negro before Oct. 18 – and €6 (!!!!!!!!11) at the door. How ridiculous are those prices? I’ll lose all my faith in humanity if the house isn’t packed.
